Donnie Darko “Head over Heels” Scene
This has to be among my top 5 favorite musical sequences in a movie. It’s a wonderful song, it’s spot on for the period, and I really dig how the scene’s fluid, slow-motion pacing matches the song’s leisurely, almost luxurious feel. Oh, and I love the slightly surreal bit with the girls’ dance routine.
I’d like to make a movie, by the way, just so I could set a similar sequence to New Order’s “Touched by the Hand of God.”
