PodWorks 2.9.3 Beta 2 →
I’ve been hard at work on a new PodWorks update (2.9.3), aimed primarily at mitigating some reliability problems caused by iTunes’, shall we say, less than stellar AppleScript implementation (which PodWorks relies on to transfer songs to iTunes). In addition to confirming that iTunes is responsive (e.g. that it doesn’t have an error dialog or the preferences up) before trying a transfer, PodWorks should now also benefit from better error handling and fault tolerance in the underlying AppleScript, and a new “transfer errors” dialog that logs the problems that occur during the transfer, rather than presenting them to the user (and thereby stopping the transfer) as they arise.
I’ve also done a lot of work on making the “Show Only Songs Not in iTunes” option more accurate, improved the song sorting by making it closer to the new iTunes 7 sort order changes, and fixed some other assorted minor bugs.
I’ve posted it on the Sci-Fi Hi-Fi Get Satisfaction forum as a public beta, and I’m curious to get peoples’ feedback on it (preferably via the forum).
Update: And wouldn’t you know it, I originally linked to the wrong beta download (a really old one) in the Satisfaction post. The correct link is in there now, so if you had tried it and thought it was a big step backward, please try it again!
